Conspiracy theorists were ecstatic when journalist Matt Taibbi started a 36-tweet thread on Twitter on December 10 by releasing leaked emails from the former C-suite of the social media platform now owned by Elon Musk.
The devoted supporters view the ‘Twitter Files’ as significant confirmation of a previously unspoken conspiracy to silence conservative online voices and elect Joe Biden.
As that hypothesis developed, one of Twitter’s senior attorneys was named the enemy.
The “Twitter Files” is being hailed as a crucial missing piece in various conspiracy theories, including those involving QAnon, disproved allegations of vote fraud, and President Joe Biden’s alleged corrupt activities in Ukraine.
One QAnon influencer stated, “The Twitter Files confirm Q’s entire main narrative.” This message, which refers to the fanciful allegations of fashion label Balenciaga’s involvement in child trafficking, has been watched over 120,000 times on Telegram.
According to Liz Crokin, a well-known QAnon influencer with more than 100,000 Telegram followers and hundreds of paid Substack subscribers, Dorsey is a member of the same Satanic cabal as Hillary Clinton adviser John Podesta, according to the emails.
“Pizza is a pedophile code word that’s been identified by law enforcement,” Crokin wrote.
Following the disclosure of the documents, the hugely popular @catturd account, which has more than 800,000 followers on Truth Social and over 1 million followers on Twitter, demanded that “the FBI be disbanded” and “[FBI Director] Christopher Wray be arrested.”
Baker, Twitter’s deputy general counsel, advocated caution in the disclosed internal emails.
“We need more facts to assess whether the materials were hacked,” he wrote.
Baker pointed out that specific evidence suggested that the laptop’s contents had been compromised, while other facts indicated that Biden had abandoned it.
On December 6, Baker was fired.
“Vetting the first batch of ‘Twitter Files’—without knowledge of new management,” Taibbi and Musk stated regarding Baker’s layoff.
While there have been problems with Musk’s company, including a loss of sponsors and a resurgence of Nazis, he has always cited record-high engagement as evidence that his leadership was delivering outcomes.
