Fortinet, a leading cybersecurity solutions provider, has launched the Cybercrime Atlas initiative to empower organisations to take action against cybercrime.

The World Economic Forum (WEF), Banco Santander, Microsoft, PayPal, and Fortinet joined forces to unveil the Cybercrime Atlas this month in Davos at the organisation’s Annual Meeting.

According to the Forum, Cybercrime Atlas will benefit businesses, law enforcement, and governmental organisations by offering unique visibility to disrupt cybercriminals across their ecosystem and infrastructure to find and assist in destroying cybercriminals and their infrastructure across the globe.

“Disrupting global cybercriminal organisations requires a global effort with strong, trusted relationships and collaboration across public and private organisations and industries,” Chief Security Strategist and VP of global threat intelligence, FortiGuard Labs Derek Manky said.

“It is part of Fortinet’s mission to secure people, devices, and data everywhere, and Fortinet is proud to be one of the founding members of the World Economic Forum Centre for Cybersecurity and an active contributor as part of its Partnership against Cybercrime (PAC)

“The Cybercrime Atlas initiative is about driving real impact and is a coordinated effort to create a chain of disruption in the world of cybercrime. We are excited to continue working with private and public sector leaders to help make our digital world safer.”

The Forums PAC community, which has members from the private and public sectors, came up with the idea for the Cybercrime Atlas.

The project has profited from a year of research into 13 criminal organisations by specialised analysts and cybercrime investigators utilising only publically available data since 2H 2021. The Cybercrime Atlas’s amassed knowledge will eventually aid in locating and dismantling the cybercrime ecosystem.

Law enforcement authorities have praised the group’s methodology and preliminary findings. These unconventional artifacts’ discoveries will make it easier to apprehend and successfully prosecute members of cybercrime gangs.

By leveraging the power of collaboration, the Cybercrime Atlas can be a game-changer in global cybercrime prevention and disruption.
